This Week's Journal Exercise

In your journal:

Do you view your relationships as supportive or competitive?  When someone you know is trying to accomplish something or needs help what is your response?  If you have to help someone out, do you feel taken advantage of or like you lost in some way, or do you feel glad to have an opportunity to do something for them?

This Week's Journal Exercise

In your journal:

How do you react when asked to do something by a loved one or friend?  Think of the times you've been asked to do something?  How did you feel about being asked and about fulfilling the request?  Were you happy to help?  Were you resentful about being asked?  Why or Why not?  If you have to say "No" to a loved one or friend are you sad because you are unable to help them?  Why or why not?

This Week's Journal Exercise

In your journal:

Make a list of what you've done this week or today.  What was the reason behind each item on your list?  Why did you do each of these items?  What did you do because it fit your goals?  What did you do simply because you felt it was expected of you or someone else wanted you to do it?  How did your accomplishments and actions this week fit with your priorities and goals?

In your journal:

Catch yourself focusing on what you think others should do?  When you catch yourself getting annoyed or upset because you want someone to do something or be a certain way, accept that you can't make anyone the way you want them.  Instead ask yourself why you want them to act this way?  What is it that you need from them that they are not able to supply?  How can you fill this need yourself?
