This Week's Journal Exercise

In your journal:

What is the importance of some of the little everyday things in your life that you do on a regular basis?  What positive things can be achieved if they are done well?  What good can they bring you and those that you care about?  What do you miss out on if they are done without thought or much effort or not done at all?  For example, what is the difference if you make the most of the time you spend with a loved one rather than being distracted by everything else you feel you should be doing?  How, over time, will this help to build a stronger relationship?  How will you miss out on this if you let yourself be distracted?  Think of something that you don't always put a whole lot of effort into or while doing this thing you tend to be distracted.  How can you focus on the importance of doing this well?  What will you gain by giving it your best effort?  What will you lose out on if you continue to do this without your best effort?

This Week's Journal Exercise

In your journal:

What habit would you like to have each day?  What habit would you like to make part of who you are?  What habit would improve your life and/or help you progress toward your most important goals?  Where can you fit this important habit into your life?  How can you enlist the help of a friend in keeping you on track by perhaps doing it together, reporting in, or building a system of reward?

This Week's Journal Exercise

In your journal:

Write down some of the expectations people have for you.  In what ways do these expectations mean you need to reject some part of yourself or be something you're really not?  How will this make you feel about yourself and the relationship in the long run?  Next consider the expectations you have for the people in your life?  How might some of your expectations cause someone to reject some part of themselves or be something they're not?
