This Week's Journal Exercise

In your journal:

Be aware this week of the type of person you're trying to project to others.  What type of person are you trying to convince others that you really are?  Write in your journal at the end of the day the people you encountered and what type of person you tried to project to each.  How did you act to get this person to perceive you in a certain way?  How did the way you wanted to be perceived change with each person?  Why did you want the people you encountered to view you this way?  What did you feel would impress him or her?  Is this really who you are?  Is this someone you want to be?  If not, what purpose was there in presenting yourself this way?  If this is not really who you are, do you think the person was fooled?  When others present themselves to you as something they are not are you often fooled?  If you presented yourself to others as you truly are based on your best traits, who would this be?

This Week's Journal Exercise

In your journal:

Think of the last time you talked to someone about something that was bothering you or something you were feeling bad about.  What did you say?  How did what you were saying reinforce your negative feelings.  How did what you were saying explain and justify these feelings.  How might you have changed what you were saying to produce or reinforce more positive feelings?  What positive aspects could have been your focus while talking that would have reinforced and /or generated a better or more hopeful, positive view of the problem and better feelings?

This Week's Journal Exercise

In your journal:

What might you be feeling responsible for that is not in fact your responsibility or at least not entirely your responsibility?  Next consider an area you might be minimizing your responsibility when you should in fact be making greater efforts.  In both areas, try to gain perspective and acknowledge the true amount of your responsibility in the matter?
